Round 7 of the Best in the Desert Bilek Silver State 300 saw
Banning Motorsports 1123 on top of the leader board for class 1200. Lee Sr. and Lee Jr. shared driving
duties while Kyle Danielson held down the co-driver seat for the entire
race. Lee Sr. started first in
class and continued to do what he has been doing all year long, and that is put
the hammer down and turn up dirt.
1123 was having a flawless morning as the BFGoodrich tires did not have
any issues and handled the terrain effortlessly. The strong pace that was set by 1123 was hard to match as
the Fat Performance VW was supplying the buggy with all the power that they
were asking for. The first stint
went as planned and Lee Jr. took over the saddle at pit 5 with a 15 minute lead
over second place. Lee Jr.
took his dads momentum and kept it moving as Jr. made no mistakes and had a
great 2nd stint and brought the 1123 Banning Motorsports class 1200
buggy across the line with the win.

The 2nd of three Banning Motorsports buggies left
the line 6th in class with Bryan Folks Driving and Chris Godfrey
handling the co-driving duties in the 1178 class 12 buggy. Bryan
and Chris had a dusty start but started making progress and got the buggy
towards the front of the field.
For a while 1178 was
running within 20 min of the class lead which was held by team buggy 1123 and
passing vehicles in the meantime.
As Bryan and Chris caught 2nd place buggy Jake Jones they had
a tire go down. Do to some
equipment issues, the tire change was a little longer than usual, but the guys
got it taken care of and back in the dust they went. Pit 5 is where the driver change took place for the team and
Bryan would hop out and Rick Graf was set to bring it home. A good battle took place with "Pinky"
(a competitor in the class) and ended when Pinky turned over about race mile
205. As the sun set and the dust
started to hang Rick turned on the KC HiLites which led the way the last 30
miles to a 3rd place class finish.

The 3rd Banning Motorsports buggy was scheduled
to have Gary Williams Jr and Tommy Shaw drive with Alan Dillemuth and Jeff
Rhodes to share the co-driving duties.
Three in a half miles off of the starting line a mechanical issue ended
the teams day early. Andy Chris
Rick and the guys will get everything back in order and you will see 1156 back
in action real soon.
