POST "BAJA 1000" RACE
WINNERS!!!

As most of you know by now we WON the Biggest Off-Road Race in the WORLD!!

The week started off normal with us doing pre running and taking notes of the race course. Chris, Ali, Scoop, and I were working on the start to the Borrego section with Brad, James, and Bob following along in his new FF1 pre runner. There were many new challenges in this section after a lot of rain, so everything was changed for the worse.

Rick, Alan, and Dennis were working on the San Felipe loop and were finding a lot of the same. We all stayed in San Felipe on Monday night as it was much closer for everyone to get back to work on Tuesday.

Tuesday we all started back to work marking our trails and making sure we knew all the dangers and water obstacles for race day. We reran the summit, wash, dry lake bed, and silt section back up to Borrego. Rick, Alan, and Dennis were re-running their San Felipe section and Jr., Clayton, and Tim headed down the Pacific side and ran back up to Santo Tomas and thru the Uruapan area to alligator rock. We all met up at Mike's Sky Ranch for the night and got a little dinner with some much needed rest.

Wednesday we were all up and at it again. Jr. and Clayton along with Brad were headed to the cross over section to the Pacific side. Rick and Alan were working on the last section of their loop to San Mantis and then meeting up with Andy and the rest of the team to double check the jetting and suspension on our car before the race. Chris and I were busy running our section from Ojos to race mile 100, which we did a couple of times so we had everything marked. We then headed to an Ensenada meeting with Jr., Clayton, Brad, James, Bob, Dennis and Scoop along with Andy's group and the race car. We all settled in and got some dinner and planned the next day for tech and contingency. Rick and his crew were still down in San Felipe working on their notes.

Thursday we were all up and Brad cooked up a great breakfast for everyone. We headed to contingency and were overwhelmed by the whole circus of crowds that were handing out lots of Troop Fuel, T shirts, and posters along with stickers. Fun was had by everyone! We headed back to camp and started getting everything ready for race day. We went out to pre run the start for the first time and found 6 miles of new course that was much to our surprise. We made our notes and were ready for the challenge of beating the Baja. As we were headed back to Ensenada we passed thru the town of Ojos and handed out t shirts to all the little kids on the side of the road wanting stickers, they were very surprised to get shirts instead of stickers and they had happy smiles on their faces as we drove away.

Friday was race day and it was a little interesting, to say the least. We started out with a big breakfast for everyone then the chase crews headed out for their first assignments. We headed down to the start line for staging and we were in the car ready to go when we got word that there was some kind of blockage on the course at about 4 miles, and the first 10 trophy trucks were all parked not able to get around. After some confusion SCORE decided to take all the trucks down the course to race mile 4 and re start all the trucks from there. Then they came back and started everyone else from the main start line in town, so we got a 2 hour delay in starting. After starting second to last in class we were off and in the race. We had a good race all the way to the first driver change bringing the car in 3rd on the road. Rick and Alan took over for the San Felipe loop and did a great job. They had 1 flat and got stuck but still managed to hand the car off to Jr. and Clayton in first place. They continued on and added time on the field having a clean fast run, bringing the car into the finish with a little over 40 min. on second place. We ended 1st in class and 21st overall in all the 4 wheel cars and trucks. We want to send a special thanks to all of our team for their hard work and time: Andy, Tim, Dennis, Cooper, Panayiotis, Scoop, Levi, Brad, James, RC, Emery, Tom Brown, Dave Austin, Marley, Zach Gomulka, Ali, Megan, Rick, Alan, Clayton, Chris, Jr., Amy (for team logistics) and Gail for food.

We also want to thank our sponsors: BFGoodrich, KC HiLites, Neo, FOX Shox, Foddrill Motorsports, Action Auto, Fat, Sunoco, Method, and Weddle. All these partners are very important in our success and we appreciate their continued support.

Our last race of the year is the BITD Henderson 250 on December 3, 2011. Please let us know if you will be coming along to help with this one.
