Post "Vegas to Reno" Race

Let's start out by saying that we had a GREAT race!!! The team left Phoenix Thursday morning at 6:30 am and headed to Vegas for registration and technician inspection. After everything was in order in Vegas, we continued another 100 miles northwest to Beatty where the starting line was. We set up camp and went to work on all the last minute stuff with the race cars, chase trucks, and our race day plans. With everything in order we sat down to a great spaghetti meal thanks to Gail Graf and her homemade spaghetti sauce. Everyone enjoyed the balance of the evening discussing the next day and how they hoped things would turn out.

Friday morning came and after a good breakfast everyone was ready to take on this great race. The 1100 cars were the 5th class off at the start and the 2000 car was about the 8th class off. We got off around 10:30 am with the 1101 running strong up thru race mile 100 where we had a flat. The 1178 car got past while we were changing the flat and we pretty much ran like that for the balance of the race. The 1178 had a perfect day with no problems. The 1101 had just the one flat but was unable to make up the 15 minutes it took to change the tire and pick up another spare at the next pit. The 2009 car was having a super day leading most of the day to race mile 240 where they got upside down and lost time getting the car back on its wheels. At the finish it was the: 1178 1st in class and 24th overall including all 4 wheel classes, the 1101 2nd in class and 31st overall, and the 2009 was 6th in class and 72nd overall. The day was great with a little breeze keeping some of the dust off the course, and all the chase teams being spot on at every pit.

We can't say enough about this being a great all around effort by everyone involved (the team, sponsors, team members, and drivers), it was a great day!!!
